Supaflu offers you many benefits including: improved structural stability, ease of maintenance, and suitability to all fuel types. However, Supaflu’s most important benefits are improved efficiency and added safety.

Supaflu is designed to insulate your chimney while providing an effective barrier between the flue gases and your living quarters. Because of its’ liquid consistency, Supaflu fills all cracks and pores, greatly reducing the chance of your exposure to toxic gases.

As an insulator, Supaflu is superior. In fact the R-value is 500% greater than clay tile liners. This insulation ensures that flue gases remain hotter and more buoyant, thus improving overall venting efficiency and reducing buildup within the flue. Additionally, your chimneys’ exterior surface temperature will be lowered, reducing the chance combustible materials surrounding your chimney may ignite. Supaflu is non-corrosive and is free of asbestos. Also, when subjected to alternate freeze-thaw cycles, Supaflu showed no signs of surface degradation.

Before the installation and repair process can begin, the chimney must be inspected and thoroughly cleaned using the recognized industry procedures.

All openings in the chimney such as clean-out doors, thimbles, and fireplace openings are carefully closed and all weak areas are properly braced.

The inflatable rubber former, the Supaformer, is lowered into the chimney. It is properly sized to the requirements of the heating appliance(s), thus providing optimum draft and insuring gases resulting from combustion are efficiently vented. If the chimney is lined with clay tile, the tiles should be completely removed.

The Supaformer is inflated to the proper flue size and centered within the flue cavity using spacers. In offset chimneys, this spacing is vital to insure the required thickness of Supaflu is achieved.

The Supaflu lining material (water added at site) is then poured inside the chimney and around the inflated Supaformer. The lining material requires approximately 24 hours to properly cure before the Supaformer is removed. The clean-outs and thimbles are then reopened and all braces are removed. The heating appliance(s) are then reconnected.

Our Testing & Listings:

Supaflu Chimney Systems has been successfully tested to Underwriter's Laboratories UL1777 Standard for masonry chimneys by Intertek Testing Services for zero clearance to combustible materials. This is particularly important for those homes which may have combustible materials in direct contact with the chimney casing.

Supaflu is also recognized by the Building Officials & Code Administrators, International (BOCA) in Research Report 90-36.

Supaflu is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association.
